Message from the Executive Director: November 2017

Message from the Executive Director

Time flies when you’re having fun! I cannot believe that it has been a decade since LAPCS launched. I still have vivid memories of working at my kitchen table as the sole employee of LAPCS and writing our first, three-year strategic plan. When I read it now, it makes me laugh because I fully admit, I didn’t know what I was doing. However, as I write this note to you, we are working on our 3rd three-year plan, and I’m happy to say it’s a great one. I will be sharing it with everyone at our upcoming annual statewide conference on Dec. 14th in New Orleans, and I hope you will be there. We have some great speakers lined up including Supt. John White; Louisiana’s Poet Laureate; and Dr. Dan Willingham from Universiy of Virginia, as well as a plethora of sessions covering key topics for charter board members, school leaders, and school administrators. Not to mention, we also have an excellent pre-conference party planned.

The Louisiana Charter Schools Conference is the one time of the year that we bring all 148 charter schools together from across the state and give you the opportunity to network, learn, and maybe even have some fun. So please join us and help celebrate ten years of LAPCS and our partnership with the Louisiana Charter School community.

We hope that you and your families had a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoyed this week’s S-N-O-W! I certainly enjoyed helping build my son Owen’s first snowman!
