Board Member Focus: Ronnie J. Morris, BASIS Baton Rouge

Why did you choose to serve on your school’s board? I did my homework and immediately recognized the value offered by BASIS Baton Rouge to my local community. I thought board service would be a fantastic opportunity to learn from a world class organization with an innovative approach to K-12 education.

How did you become involved with your school? I was approached by friends I had been working with in public education over the years, including Stephanie Cargile, who I participated with on Junior Achievement and STEM Aquaponics projects at ExxonMobil. That meeting opened up a lot of doors for me.

What leadership roles have you had while serving on the board? I serve as Board Treasurer, and my wife Allyson and I host an annual gathering for faculty and staff to kick off the school year. I also enjoy volunteering with a group of ExxonMobil engineers for after school tutoring!

How can people help your school if they are interested? Come to our Open House or schedule a school tour, then share your experience with friends and family!
