New Orleans High Schools: Sign up for Academic WorldQuest 2017

The World Affairs Council of New Orleans will participate for the second year in Academic WorldQuest, a competition for high schools organized by the World Affairs Councils of America.

Academic WorldQuest is a quiz game that tests competing teams’ knowledge of international affairs, geography, history and culture. Teams answer questions from categories provided, along with a study guide, through the World Affairs Council. This year’s topics include: Combating Infectious Diseases, the European Union, Countering Violent Extremism, and others.

Academic WorldQuest is a unique opportunity to expose students to the world outside our borders and prepare them for the challenges and the opportunities of the 21st Century. The game also contributes to the national Common Core State Standards Initiative by fostering reading comprehension skills for informational text.

Each spring, the winning teams from local competitions across the country are invited to Washington, D.C., for the national high school competition.

Please see the attached flyer for registration information. For more information and questions, please contact Christina Kiel at christina.kiel@gmail.com.
